We update our adoption page frequently, so check back if you don’t see the right dog for you below. Note: We ONLY adopt to residents of the Washington metropolitan area, which includes Washington, D.C., and parts of Northern Virginia and Maryland.

DUE TO A TECHNICAL ISSUE, WE HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVING MEET-YOUR-MATCH (MYM) FORMS REGULARLY. IF YOU SUBMITTED A MYM BETWEEN AUGUST 25 AND SEPTEMBER 27 AND DID NOT GET A REPLY. PLEASE RESUBMIT YOUR REQUEST

NEW: Dog adoptions are taking place during the COVID pandemic. Changes to our regular process include:

  • Weekend dog adoption fairs have been cancelled until further notice;
  • In-person home visits generally will not be performed. In some cases, a video home visit may be done;
  • An appointment will be made with the applicants to meet the dog they are interested in;
  • Applications will be processed and approved via email and/or telephone;
  • An appointment will be made to pick up a dog to begin trial placement;
  • During the meet-and-greet appointment, masks must be worn and social distancing must be maintained;
  • We will finalize adoption contracts after the trial period.
