SOOTY is a very friendly, talkative boy who likes to greet you at the door when you come home. He will do well as the only pet in his forever home if he gets plenty of interaction with people, and the home is big enough for him to roam around, explore and look out the windows for entertainment. He may also do well with another moderately playful male cat to bond and play with.
Sooty is a spunky boy who needs plenty of space to explore. He loves to jump to high surfaces and run up and down stairs. He has a lot of energy and needs plenty of play time with his human buddies. Sooty loves catnip and string-like toys, water fountains, and horizontal scratching pads. He is also good about sitting outside with a harness and leash on to get some fresh air. He hasn't walked on a leash but would probably be easy to train to do this.
When Sooty is in a quieter mood, he loves to look outside to watch the world go by. He likes to sit with you on the couch when you have a soft, furry blanket for him to snuggle and "make biscuits" on. At night, he will spend a little time with you on the bed, but prefers to sleep under the bed – he likes dark, cozy places to sleep. Sooty enjoys head and chin scratches, but is touchy when you pet his tummy or back. He can get a little over-stimulated with petting, so its best to pet him on his head and chin.
Sooty was adopted out as a single kitten when he was about 8 weeks old. He hasn't lived with another cat for long periods of time, but because of his high energy and friendly nature, we think he would do well with another like-minded male cat to bond and play with. He can get a little nippy if he's left alone for periods of time because he's not getting enough interaction or stimulation. So having people around, places to explore, windows to look outside and/or another cat to play with is important.
Sooty needs a home with a caretaker who is experienced with cats. He also needs a home with just adults, or an older child or two would be fine if they understand how to interact with an energetic cat who can get a little over-stimulated when playing or getting petted. Sooty is truly a wonderful kitty who thrives in the right environment where he will be sure to keep you entertained.
