Leroy's Personality

Leroy is a handsome, long and lean classic brown tabby. He is the sweetest cat – ever. Leroy is a sensitive kitty who is a tad bit shy at first, but warms up to new people in a few days. He loves being petted and sometimes meows for attention. Leroy needs to be the only kitty in your home.

Leroy loves to sit on the top of a cat tree in front of a window to watch activities outdoors. He is a pretty calm kitty who is moderately playful. He plays with toys on his own but also needs daily interactive play with people. Leroy also likes to explore and follow you around the house. When you are hanging out watching TV, reading or working on a computer he likes to be in the same room with you or to sit in your lap and make biscuits. Leroy needs caretakers who are ok with him sleeping in the bedroom at night if he chooses to. He doesn't like being shut out of rooms. He also gets great comfort by kneading on a soft blanket.

What Type of Home Leroy Needs

Leroy needs a quieter to moderately active home where people are at home a fair amount of time. Such as a single person who works from home, a couple or a family with an older child. Leroy doesn't need constant attention, but likes to be around people and not left alone for long hours on a regular basis.

Where Leroy Came From

Leroy was born in someone's home, along with five siblings, and adopted out with a sister when he was a teenager. He was returned because he was picking on his sister. Not because he's aggressive, but because he wanted the humans all to himself. Since being in SPCA NOVA's care, he has been the only kitty in the home and seems fine as an only cat.

A Note about Leroy

This sweet boy has sadly been overlooked for adoption because he is FIV positive. People are not understanding that being FIV positive doesn't necessarily mean a cat is sick or will live a short life. He acquired FIV from his mom, not from a bite would from an infected cat outdoors (the latter is the most common mode of transmission). He has never been outdoors or exposed to another cat other than his mom and siblings. There is no health guarantee with any cat, and Leroy is just like any other cat in that regard. If your lifestyle and home environment matches what he needs, please give Leroy a chance.
