IRIS is a very friendly girl who settles into a new home right away. Literally, in five minutes she's completely comfortable with her new surroundings. Iris is very athletic and loves to jump and zoom around. She is quite affection, too! She loves to be petted, and her fur is like silk!
Iris is great at keeping herself entertained and doesn't mind being left alone during the day. She loves to explore and play with toys. She’ll sleep on just about any soft surface, but eventually curls up near your feet at night for a long sleep. Iris isn’t a talker, but when she’s hungry she meows at her food bowl and runs circles around you. She can be quite vocal when her food bowl is empty!
Iris loves playing with her toys – especially the ones that look like mice – and sitting by a window enjoying the antics of the chipmunks and squirrels. Her favorite toy, though, is your toes under a comforter, a game she could enjoy for hours on end. She’s young enough to be playful and old enough to sleep through the night which makes her a perfect, playful companion.
Iris will do well as the only pet in your home. We haven’t seen her interact with other cats or dogs, although she was co-existing with other female cats in a room at the shelter where she came from. Iris needs an adult home or a home with older kids because of her high energy level.
Iris is currently a healthy girl although she tests positive for Feline AIDS (FIV). We discovered this with a routine blood test we do for all incoming cats – we test for both FIV and Feline Leukemia (FELV). FIV positive cats can live long, healthy lives. We are happy to discuss this with anyone interested in adopting Iris.
Iris is the Katniss Everdeen of cats. She came into our care from a local shelter. She came to the shelter as a stray kitty with a litter of kittens.
