Their Personalities

Baby Princess and Spooky are bonded partners in crime, although they aren't sisters. They play together and prefer sleeping cuddled up with each other in a cat bed. We prefer they be adopted together but will consider separate homes due to their very different personalities and Princess's special needs (described below).

Baby Princess (special needs kitty) is tiny and fluffy grey tabby with HUGE round eyes. She is a feisty, high energy teenager who loves snuggling with her foster family. Her spirit and strong will have helped her overcome a lot of challenges, and her happy disposition impresses everyone who crosses her path. Princess's favorite place is on your lap or your shoulder! She loves being petted and cuddling with people. As a high energy teenager, Princess needs plenty of space to roam and explore. She is a great little hunter who loves to carry toy mice around and chase balls. She also loves playing with and chasing her buddy, Spooky. Princess is very well behaved with the 5 year old boy in her foster home as well as with the resident senior cat and dog.

Princess is special needs due to her chronic rhinitis (inflammation in her nasal passage). As a tiny kitten she had chronic upper respiratory infections and has food and environmental allergies which have lead to this condition. SPCA has done extensive testing and treatment. And while her condition is stable, it does require daily care. Princess needs daily saline drops in her nose followed by suction with an electric nasal aspirator (designed for infants). We just started additional antihistamine nasal drops and are hoping this will reduce some of her nasal inflammation. She is also on prescription food for food allergies. Her condition doesn't slow her down one bit! She is such a happy little camper. Princess doesn't like the nasal drops but tolerates them and is happy to go about her day as soon as the treatment is finished.

Spooky is the sweetest girl with velvety soft fur! Once a very shy girl, Spooky has blossomed into a very sweet and cuddly girl. She is quite smart and loves to explore, especially when the house is quiet. Spooky allows the 5-year-old boy in her foster home to pet her, but prefers a fairly calm environment. She still hides when there are loud noises or new people enter the house, but recovers quickly. Spooky loves being picked up and snuggled by her foster mom. She has a loud purr motor she turns on to let you know she's happy and content. She is also a playful girl who likes chasing toys on strings and batting balls around. Spooky also loves playing chase with her buddy, Baby Princess. She is usually very quiet except she likes to be heard when she wants something – especially at meal time!

What Type of Home They Need

Because they have very different personalities, Baby Princess could fit in to just about any home – quiet or active. However, because Spooky is more shy, she needs a quiet, calm environment. If the girls are adopted together, they with do best in an adult-only home although a home with an older gentle child would be fine. Both girls need people who are loving and attentive to their needs, especially Spooky's shyness and Princess's medical condition.

Where They Came From

Both girls were rescued form outdoors as young kittens. Princess was tiny – just 3 weeks old when rescued and had to be bottle fed. Spooky was a little older when rescued. Both were initially taken to a rural Virginia shelter then transferred to a small rescue organization who could care for their individual needs. Now in SPCA's care, both girls are thriving and looking for a loving home or homes of their own.
